Now therefore, please stay ¹  the night here also, that I may know what more the Lord might say to me.” ² 

There was nothing missing, whether small or great. He retrieved sons and daughters, the plunder, and everything else they had taken. ¹  David brought everything back.

Do not be ¹  like an unintelligent horse or mule, ²  which will not obey you unless they are controlled by a bridle and bit. ³ 

unless they became my subjects ¹  and made peace with me; let them make peace with me. ² 

Remember what I accomplished in antiquity! ¹  Truly I am God, I have no peer; ²  I am God, and there is none like me,

and sent them to Jesus ¹  to ask, ²  “Are you the one who is to come, ³  or should we look for another?”

Jesus ¹  also told this parable to some who were confident that they were righteous and looked down ²  on everyone else.

My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, ¹  and no one can snatch ²  them from my Father’s hand.

(All the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there used to spend their time ¹  in nothing else than telling ²  or listening to something new.) ³ 

It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything that causes your brother to stumble. ¹ 

I do not mean yours but the other person’s. For why is my freedom being judged by another’s conscience?

And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare seed ¹  – perhaps of wheat or something else.

so that we may preach the gospel in the regions that lie beyond you, and not boast of work already done in another person’s area.

Let each one examine ¹  his own work. Then he can take pride ²  in himself and not compare himself with ³  someone else.

When Rachel saw that she could not give Jacob children, she ¹  became jealous of her sister. She said to Jacob, “Give me children ²  or I’ll die!”

You shall do the same to his donkey, his clothes, or anything else your neighbor ¹  has lost and you have found; you must not refuse to get involved. ² 

Then three days after I had my baby, this woman also had a baby. We were alone; there was no one else in the house except the two of us. ¹ 

They ¹  show that the work of the law is written ²  in their hearts, as their conscience bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or else defend ³  them, ⁴ 

According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master-builder I laid a foundation, but someone else builds on it. And each one must be careful how he builds.

(To my disgrace ¹  I must say that we were too weak for that!) ²  But whatever anyone else dares to boast about ³  (I am speaking foolishly), I also dare to boast about the same thing. ⁴
