The vision of the evenings and mornings that was told to you is correct. ¹  But you should seal up the vision, for it refers to a time many days from now.”

(5:1) As for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, ¹  seemingly insignificant ²  among the clans of Judah – from you a king will emerge who will rule over Israel on my behalf, ³  one whose origins ⁴  are in the distant past. ⁵ 

with ¹  two projections per frame parallel one to another. ²  He made all the frames of the tabernacle in this way.

“Is not God on high in heaven? ¹  And see ²  the lofty stars, ³  how high they are!

The kings of Tarshish ¹  and the coastlands will offer gifts; the kings of Sheba ²  and Seba ³  will bring tribute.

Will you stay mad at us forever? Will you remain angry throughout future generations? ¹ 

The Lord reigns! Let the earth be happy! Let the many coastlands rejoice!

Look, we heard about it ¹  in Ephrathah, ²  we found it in the territory of Jaar. ³ 

Whatever has happened is beyond human ¹  understanding; ²  it is far deeper than anyone can fathom. ³ 

You will see a king in his splendor; ¹  you will see a wide land. ² 

For he will die in the country where they took him as a captive. He will never see this land again.” ¹ 

I will perform a mighty act among them ¹  and then send some of those who remain to the nations – to Tarshish, Pul, ²  Lud ³  (known for its archers ⁴ ), Tubal, Javan, ⁵  and to the distant coastlands ⁶  that have not heard about me or seen my splendor. They will tell the nations of my splendor.

So I, the Lord, tell you not to be afraid, you descendants of Jacob, my servants. ¹  Do not be terrified, people of Israel. For I will rescue you and your descendants from a faraway land where you are captives. ²  The descendants of Jacob will return to their land and enjoy peace. They will be secure and no one will terrify them. ³ 

and all of Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the distant ¹  sea,

It emerges from the distant horizon, ¹  and goes from one end of the sky to the other; ²  nothing can escape ³  its heat.

I mention Rahab ¹  and Babylon to my followers. ²  Here are ³  Philistia and Tyre, ⁴  along with Ethiopia. ⁵  It is said of them, “This one was born there.” ⁶ 

¹ All your leaders ran away together – they fled to a distant place; all your refugees ²  were captured together – they were captured without a single arrow being shot. ³ 

So this sin will become your downfall. You will be like a high wall that bulges and cracks and is ready to collapse; it crumbles suddenly, in a flash. ¹ 

He will not grow dim or be crushed ¹  before establishing justice on the earth; the coastlands ²  will wait in anticipation for his decrees.” ³ 

He repays them for what they have done, dispensing angry judgment to his adversaries and punishing his enemies. ¹  He repays the coastlands. ²
