When he had said these things, ¹  Jesus went out with his disciples across the Kidron Valley. ²  There was an orchard ³  there, and he and his disciples went into it.

The whole valley where dead bodies and sacrificial ashes are thrown ¹  and all the terraced fields ²  out to the Kidron Valley ³  on the east as far north ⁴  as the Horse Gate ⁵  will be included within this city that is sacred to the Lord. ⁶  The city will never again be torn down or destroyed.”

As for your sinful thing ¹  that you had made, the calf, I took it, melted it down, ²  ground it up until it was as fine as dust, and tossed the dust into the stream that flows down the mountain.

The king tore down the altars the kings of Judah had set up on the roof of Ahaz’s upper room, as well as the altars Manasseh had set up in the two courtyards of the Lord’s temple. He crushed them up ¹  and threw the dust in the Kidron Valley.

Tomorrow march down against them as ¹  they come up the Ascent of Ziz. You will find them at the end of the ravine in front of the Desert of Jeruel.

They removed the altars in Jerusalem; they also removed all the incense altars and threw them into the Kidron Valley. ¹

That place was called ¹  the Eshcol Valley, ²  because of the cluster ³  of grapes that the Israelites cut from there.

I continued up the valley during the night, inspecting the wall. Then I turned back and came to the Valley Gate, and so returned.

From there they moved on and camped in the valley of Zered.

Their territory extended ¹  from Aroer at the edge of the Arnon valley as far as Mount Siyon ²  – that is, Hermon –

Alammelech, Amad, and Mishal. Their border touched Carmel to the west and Shihor Libnath.

For now ¹  you have become like these streams that are no help; ²  you see a terror, ³  and are afraid.

and throw ¹  your gold ²  in the dust – your gold ³  of Ophir among the rocks in the ravines –
