He ¹  attacks ²  his friends; ³  he breaks his solemn promises to them. ⁴ 

You made the earth quake; you split it open. ¹  Repair its breaches, for it is ready to fall. ² 

There he shattered the arrows, ¹  the shield, the sword, and the rest of the weapons of war. ²  (Selah)

In the darkness a light ¹  shines for the godly, for each one who is merciful, compassionate, and just. ² 

O sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer, ¹  you shield ²  my head in the day of battle.

One who has isolated himself ¹  seeks his own desires; ²  he rejects ³  all sound judgment.

What my eyes see ¹  grieves me ²  – all the suffering of the daughters in my city. ³ 

But if I build up again those things I once destroyed, ¹  I demonstrate that I am one who breaks God’s law. ²

You saw the many breaks in the walls of the city of David; ¹  you stored up water in the lower pool.

For, look, darkness covers the earth and deep darkness covers ¹  the nations, but the Lord shines on you; his splendor ²  appears over you.

Therefore I am content with ¹  weaknesses, with insults, with troubles, with persecutions and difficulties ²  for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

With it we bless the Lord ¹  and Father, and with it we curse people ²  made in God’s image.
