When you sacrifice a thanksgiving offering to the Lord, you must sacrifice it so that it is acceptable for your benefit. ¹ 

But you say, ‘What will it profit you,’ ¹  and, ‘What do I gain by not sinning?’ ² 

lest strangers devour ¹  your strength, ²  and your labor ³  benefit ⁴  another man’s house.

Two people are better than one, because they can reap ¹  more benefit ²  from their labor.

The more one argues with words, the less he accomplishes. ¹  How does that benefit him? ² 

In the same way the Lord commanded those who proclaim the gospel to receive their living by the gospel.

To each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the benefit of all.

if indeed ¹  you have heard of the stewardship ²  of God’s grace that was given to me for you,

For God had provided something better for us, so that they would be made perfect together with us. ¹ 

I have applied these things to myself and Apollos because of you, brothers and sisters, ¹  so that through us you may learn “not to go beyond what is written,” so that none of you will be puffed up in favor of the one against the other.

if it is to be acceptable for your benefit ¹  it must be a flawless male from the cattle, sheep, or goats.

and he must wave the sheaf before the Lord to be accepted for your benefit ¹  – on the day after the Sabbath the priest is to wave it. ² 

Since ¹  the Lord God of Israel has driven out ²  the Amorites before his people Israel, do you think you can just take it from them? ³ 

David realized that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and that he had elevated ¹  his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.

Is it of any special benefit ¹  to the Almighty that you should be righteous, or is it any gain to him that you make your ways blameless? ² 

so I may see the prosperity ¹  of your chosen ones, rejoice along with your nation, ²  and boast along with the people who belong to you. ³ 

So I decided ¹  to discern the benefit of ²  wisdom and knowledge over ³  foolish behavior and ideas; ⁴  however, I concluded ⁵  that even ⁶  this endeavor ⁷  is like ⁸  trying to chase the wind! ⁹ 

When someone’s ¹  prosperity ²  increases, those who consume it also increase; so what does its owner ³  gain, except that he gets to see it with his eyes? ⁴ 

“If ¹  you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners ²  love those who love them. ³ 

The Spirit is the one who gives life; human nature is of no help! ¹  The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. ²
