His memory perishes from the earth, he has no name in the land. ¹ 

Praise ¹  our God, you nations! Loudly proclaim his praise! ² 

And the news of this spread throughout that region. ¹ 

So ¹  the news about him spread quickly throughout all the region around Galilee.

You must sound loud horn blasts ¹  – in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, on the Day of Atonement – you must sound the horn in your entire land.

He had thirty sons. He arranged for thirty of his daughters to be married outside his extended family, ¹  and he arranged for thirty young women to be brought from outside as wives for his sons. ²  Ibzan ³  led ⁴  Israel for seven years;

Then he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent over it, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

He said, “Go and ask all your neighbors for empty containers. ¹  Get as many as you can. ² 

You, by your power, ¹  defeated nations and settled our fathers on their land; ²  you crushed ³  the people living there ⁴  and enabled our ancestors to occupy it. ⁵ 

One person is generous ¹  and yet grows more wealthy, ²  but another withholds more than he should ³  and comes to poverty. ⁴
