So Moses did as the Lord commanded; and they went up Mount Hor in the sight ¹  of the whole community.

The Philistines stayed right on the heels ¹  of Saul and his sons. They ²  struck down Saul’s sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malki-Shua.

But Absalom fled and went to King Talmai son of Ammihud of Geshur. And David ¹  grieved over his son every day.

So Amasa went out to call Judah together. But in doing so he took longer than the time that the king had allotted him.

He built an extension all around the temple; it was seven and a half feet high ¹  and it was attached to the temple by cedar beams.

The roof above the beams supported by the pillars was also made of cedar; there were forty-five beams, fifteen per row.

Jehoshaphat said, “The Lord speaks through him.” ¹  So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to visit him.

The Moabites ¹  said, “It’s blood! The kings are totally destroyed! ²  They have struck one another down! Now, Moab, seize the plunder!”

Eliakim son of Hilkiah, the palace supervisor, accompanied by Shebna the scribe and Joah son of Asaph, the secretary, went out to meet him.

The following is a record of what Jeremiah son of Hilkiah prophesied. ¹  He was one of the priests who lived at Anathoth in the territory of the tribe of Benjamin.
