Your shout made the waters retreat; at the sound of your thunderous voice they hurried off –

He turns springs into streams; ¹  they flow between the mountains.

The water covered their enemies; not even one of them survived. ¹ 

The raging water would have overwhelmed us. ¹ 

The Lord will continually lead you; he will feed you even in parched regions. ¹  He will give you renewed strength, ²  and you will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring that continually produces water.

The people say, ¹  “Why are we just sitting here? Let us gather together inside the fortified cities. ²  Let us at least die there fighting, ³  since the Lord our God has condemned us to die. He has condemned us to drink the poison waters of judgment ⁴  because we have sinned against him. ⁵ 

I cared ¹  for you in the wilderness, in the dry desert where no water was. ² 

Justice must flow like torrents of water, righteous actions ¹  like a stream that never dries up.

As the night was ending, ¹  Jesus came to them walking on the sea. ²
