Completely baffled, they said, ¹  “Aren’t ²  all these who are speaking Galileans?

So when the envoys arrived from the Babylonian officials to visit him and inquire about the sign that occurred in the land, ¹  God left him alone to test him, in order to know his true motives. ² 

Later the Lord explained, “In the same way that my servant Isaiah has walked around in undergarments and barefoot for the past three years, as an object lesson and omen pertaining to Egypt and Cush,

“When this happens,” ¹  says the Lord, “the king and his officials will lose their courage. The priests will be struck with horror, and the prophets will be speechless in astonishment.”

‘Look, you scoffers; be amazed and perish! ¹  For I am doing a work in your days, a work you would never believe, even if someone tells you.’” ² 

Then ¹  a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and with the moon under her feet, and on her head was a crown of twelve stars. ² 

Then Pharaoh also summoned wise men and sorcerers, ¹  and the magicians ²  of Egypt by their secret arts ³  did the same thing.

The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for boils were on the magicians and on all the Egyptians.

The Lord’s messenger said to him, “You should not ask me my name, because you cannot comprehend it.” ¹ 

I grieve over you, my brother Jonathan! You were very dear to me. Your love was more special to me than the love of women.

Accomplish awesome, faithful deeds, ¹  you who powerfully deliver those who look to you for protection from their enemies. ² 

So their land will become an object of horror. ¹  People will forever hiss out their scorn over it. All who pass that way will be filled with horror and will shake their heads in derision. ² 

Then ¹  astonishment ²  seized them all, and they glorified ³  God. They were filled with awe, ⁴  saying, “We have seen incredible ⁵  things ⁶  today.” ⁷ 

Then ¹  they were all astonished at the mighty power ²  of God.But while the entire crowd ³  was amazed at everything Jesus ⁴  was doing, he said to his disciples,

And while they still could not believe it ¹  (because of their joy) and were amazed, ²  he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” ³ 

Sing to him! Make music to him! Tell about all his miraculous deeds!

Look ¹  at me and be appalled; put your hands over your mouths. ² 

As soon as they see, ¹  they are shocked; ²  they are terrified, they quickly retreat. ³ 

that does not respond to ¹  the magicians, or to a skilled snake-charmer.

The Lord God, the God of Israel, deserves praise! ¹  He alone accomplishes amazing things! ²
