(For his disciples had gone off into the town to buy supplies. ¹ ) ² 

Warriors ¹  were scarce, ²  they were scarce in Israel, until you ³  arose, Deborah, until you arose as a motherly protector ⁴  in Israel.

In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, ¹  the angel Gabriel ²  was sent by ³  God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, ⁴ 

Now on the third day there was a wedding at Cana ¹  in Galilee. ²  Jesus’ mother ³  was there,

Then the woman left her water jar, went off into the town and said to the people, ¹ 

As he approached the town gate, a man ¹  who had died was being carried out, ²  the only son of his mother (who ³  was a widow ⁴ ), and a large crowd from the town ⁵  was with her.

Thus Jesus no longer went ¹  around publicly ²  among the Judeans, ³  but went away from there to the region near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim, ⁴  and stayed there with his disciples.

Soon ¹  afterward ²  Jesus ³  went to a town ⁴  called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went with him.

Wherever ¹  they do not receive you, ²  as you leave that town, ³  shake the dust off ⁴  your feet as a testimony against them.”

Now he came to a Samaritan town ¹  called Sychar, ²  near the plot of land that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. ³ 

Now many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the report of the woman who testified, ¹  “He told me everything I ever did.”

After this ¹  Jesus traveled throughout Galilee. ²  He ³  stayed out of Judea ⁴  because the Jewish leaders ⁵  wanted ⁶  to kill him.

The sun had just risen ¹  over the land as Lot reached Zoar. ²

When he entered Capernaum, ¹  a centurion ²  came to him asking for help: ³ 

Whatever ¹  house you enter, stay there ²  until you leave the area. ³ 

These things happened in Bethany ¹  across the Jordan River ²  where John was baptizing.

So ¹  they left the town and began coming ²  to him.

So the two of them ¹  journeyed together until they arrived in Bethlehem. ² When they entered ³  Bethlehem, ⁴  the whole village was excited about their arrival. ⁵  The women of the village said, ⁶  “Can this be Naomi?” ⁷
