This is what the sovereign Lord says: Because your lust ¹  was poured out and your nakedness was uncovered in your prostitution with your lovers, and because of all your detestable idols, and because of the blood of your children you have given to them,

‘Cursed is the one who has sexual relations with ¹  his father’s former wife, ²  for he dishonors his father.’ ³  Then all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

the oracle of the one who hears the words of God, and who knows the knowledge of the Most High, who sees a vision from the Almighty, although falling flat on the ground with eyes open:

The depths ¹  of the sea ²  were exposed; the inner regions ³  of the world were uncovered by ⁴  your battle cry, ⁵  Lord, by the powerful breath from your nose. ⁶

They must be cut off in the sight of the children of their people. ²  He has exposed his sister’s nakedness; he will bear his punishment for iniquity. ³ 

“Therefore this is what the sovereign Lord says: ‘Because you have brought up ¹  your own guilt by uncovering your transgressions and revealing your sins through all your actions, for this reason you will be taken by force. ² 

whenever I want to heal Israel, the sin of Ephraim is revealed, and the evil deeds of Samaria are exposed. For they do what is wrong; thieves break into houses, and gangs rob people out in the streets.

for he is too proud to recognize and give up his sin. ¹ 

Examine me, and probe my thoughts! ¹  Test me, and know my concerns! ² 

Though his ¹  hatred may be concealed ²  by deceit, his evil will be uncovered ³  in the assembly.

Her gates will mourn and lament; deprived of her people, she will sit on the ground. ¹
