She also saw ¹  that I gave wayward Israel her divorce papers and sent her away because of her adulterous worship of other gods. ²  Even after her unfaithful sister Judah had seen this, ³  she still was not afraid, and she too went and gave herself like a prostitute to other gods. ⁴ 

You are too just ¹  to tolerate ²  evil; you are unable to condone ³  wrongdoing. So why do you put up with such treacherous people? ⁴  Why do you say nothing when the wicked devour ⁵  those more righteous than they are? ⁶ 

Do not let those who are my enemies for no reason ¹  gloat ²  over me! Do not let those who hate me without cause carry out their wicked schemes! ³ 

But, you have been unfaithful to me, nation of Israel, ¹  like an unfaithful wife who has left her husband,” ²  says the Lord.

But Isaac ¹  replied, “Your brother came in here deceitfully and took away ²  your blessing.”

A truthful witness ¹  rescues lives, ²  but the one who breathes lies brings ³  deception. ⁴ 

for a prostitute is like ¹  a deep pit; a harlot ²  is like ³  a narrow well. ⁴ 

Indeed, she lies in wait like a robber, ¹  and increases the unfaithful ²  among men. ³ 

Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, ¹  who became a traitor.

You, O Lord God, the invincible warrior, ¹  the God of Israel, rouse yourself and punish ²  all the nations! Have no mercy on any treacherous evildoers! (Selah)

Lord, you have always been fair whenever I have complained to you. ¹  However, I would like to speak with you about the disposition of justice. ²  Why are wicked people successful? ³  Why do all dishonest people have such easy lives?

They turn to Baal; ¹  they are like an unreliable bow. Their leaders will fall by the sword because their prayers to Baal ²  have made me angry. So people will disdain them in the land of Egypt. ³ 

Thorns and snares ¹  are in the path of the perverse, but the one who guards himself keeps far from them.

Like a bad tooth or a foot out of joint, ¹  so is confidence ²  in an unfaithful person at the time of trouble. ³ 

For the nations of Israel and Judah ¹  have been very unfaithful to me,” says the Lord.

Indeed, wine will betray the proud, restless man! ¹  His appetite ²  is as big as Sheol’s; ³  like death, he is never satisfied. He gathers ⁴  all the nations; he seizes ⁵  all peoples.

However, when ¹  they confess their iniquity and their ancestors’ iniquity which they committed by trespassing against me, ²  by which they also walked ³  in hostility against me ⁴ 

Those who seek my life try to entrap me; ¹  those who want to harm me speak destructive words; all day long they say deceitful things.

The destroyer is as good as dead, ¹  you who have not been destroyed! The deceitful one is as good as dead, ²  the one whom others have not deceived! When you are through destroying, you will be destroyed; when you finish ³  deceiving, others will deceive you!

But you, O God, will bring them ¹  down to the deep Pit. ²  Violent and deceitful people ³  will not live even half a normal lifespan. ⁴  But as for me, I trust in you.
