When ¹  the hands of Moses became heavy, ²  they took a stone and put it under him, and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other, ³  and so his hands were steady ⁴  until the sun went down.

he stood his ground ¹  and fought the Philistines until his hand grew so tired that it ²  seemed stuck to his sword. The Lord gave a great victory on that day. When the army returned to him, the only thing left to do was to plunder the corpses.

You gave the weary ¹  no water to drink and from the hungry you withheld food.

O God, you cause abundant showers to fall ¹  on your chosen people. ²  When they ³  are tired, you sustain them, ⁴
