You must inscribe on the stones all the words of this law, making them clear.”

It cannot be measured out for purchase ¹  with the gold of Ophir, with precious onyx ²  or sapphires.

Listen to my appeal for mercy! ¹  Deliver me, as you promised. ² 

Those are the terms that I charged your ancestors ¹  to keep ²  when I brought them out of Egypt, that place which was like an iron-smelting furnace. ³  I said at that time, ⁴  “Obey me and carry out the terms of the agreement ⁵  exactly as I commanded you. While he was saying these things, many people ¹  believed in him.

Now Sisera ran away on foot to the tent of Jael, wife of Heber the Kenite, for King Jabin of Hazor ¹  and the family of Heber the Kenite had made a peace treaty. ² 

The elders of Jabesh said to him, “Leave us alone for seven days so that we can send messengers throughout the territory of Israel. If there is no one who can deliver us, we will come out voluntarily to you.”

And what I am doing I will continue to do, so that I may eliminate any opportunity for those who want a chance to be regarded as our equals ¹  in the things they boast about.

But if you do not agree to our terms ¹  by being circumcised, then we will take ²  our sister ³  and depart.”

and twelve and a half pounds of cassia, all weighed ¹  according to the sanctuary shekel, and four quarts ²  of olive oil.

Every conversion value must be calculated by the standard of the sanctuary shekel; ¹  twenty gerahs to the shekel.

Then I sent messengers from the Kedemoth ¹  Desert to King Sihon of Heshbon with an offer of peace:

If it does not accept terms of peace but makes war with you, then you are to lay siege to it.

He captured King Agag of the Amalekites alive, but he executed all Agag’s people ¹  with the sword.

He sent messengers to King Ahab of Israel, who was in the city. ¹ 

For you will have a pact with the stones ¹  of the field, and the wild animals ²  will be at peace ³  with you.

“Reconcile yourself ¹  with God, ²  and be at peace ³  with him; in this way your prosperity will be good.

For the Lord vindicates ¹  his people, and has compassion on his servants. ²
