And with this confidence I intended to come to you first so that you would get a second opportunity to see us, ¹ 

Now ¹  by this we know that we have come to know God: ²  if we keep his commandments.

For I am sure of this very thing, ¹  that the one ²  who began a good work in ³  you will perfect it ⁴  until the day of Christ Jesus.

But whoever obeys his ¹  word, truly in this person ²  the love of God has been perfected. By this we know that we are in him.

If you know that he is righteous, you also know ¹  that everyone who practices righteousness has been fathered ²  by him.

Make the path for your feet ¹  level, ²  so that ³  all your ways may be established. ⁴ 

So do not throw away your confidence, because it ¹  has great reward.

If he should then say, ‘That’s fine,’ ¹  then your servant is safe. But if he becomes very angry, be assured that he has decided to harm me. ² 

You are to offer them with their drink offerings in addition to the continual burnt offering and its grain offering – they must be unblemished.

Your house and your kingdom will stand before me ¹  permanently; your dynasty ²  will be permanent.’”

She said to her husband, “Look, I’m sure ¹  that the man who regularly passes through here is a very special prophet. ² 

The Lord made a reliable promise to David; ¹  he will not go back on his word. ²  He said, ³  “I will place one of your descendants ⁴  on your throne.

So now be very sure of this: You will die from war, starvation, or disease in the place where you want to go and live.”

Be sure of this! The Lord who commands armies has decreed: The nations’ efforts will go up in smoke; their exhausting work will be for nothing. ¹ 

Zechariah ¹  said to the angel, “How can I be sure of this? ²  For I am an old man, and my wife is old as well.” ³ 

Jesus ¹  said to his disciples, “Stumbling blocks are sure to come, but woe ²  to the one through whom they come!

Please forgive the sin of your servant, for the Lord will certainly establish the house of my lord, because my lord fights the battles of the Lord. May no evil be found in you all your days!

So let us acknowledge him! ¹  Let us seek ²  to acknowledge ³  the Lord! He will come to our rescue as certainly as the appearance of the dawn, as certainly as the winter rain comes, as certainly as the spring rain that waters the land.”

When ¹  Peter came to himself, he said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued ²  me from the hand ³  of Herod ⁴  and from everything the Jewish people ⁵  were expecting to happen.”

And do everything in a decent and orderly manner.
