Then ¹  the second one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has made five minas.’

When he turned around and saw me, he called out to me. I answered, ‘Here I am!’

Then I asked the messenger who spoke with me, “What are these, ¹  sir?”

He replied, “Don’t you know what these are?” And I said, “No, sir.”

Then I asked the angelic messenger ¹  who was speaking with me, “What are these, sir?”

Then another ¹  slave ²  came and said, ‘Sir, here is ³  your mina that I put away for safekeeping ⁴  in a piece of cloth. ⁵ 

Gideon said to him, “Pardon me, ¹  but if the Lord is with us, why has such disaster ²  overtaken us? Where are all his miraculous deeds our ancestors told us about? They said, ³  ‘Did the Lord not bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to Midian.”

She said, “You really are being kind to me, ¹  sir, ²  for you have reassured ³  and encouraged ⁴  me, your servant, ⁵  even though I am ⁶  not one of your servants!” ⁷

Then I asked one nearby, “What are these, sir?” The angelic messenger ¹  who replied to me said, “I will show you what these are.”

He replied, “Don’t you know what these are?” So I responded, “No, sir.”

The ¹  one with the two talents also came and said, ‘Sir, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more.’

She replied, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you either. Go, and from now on do not sin any more.”]] ¹
