And you are to tell the Israelites: ‘This is to be my sacred anointing oil throughout your generations.

and make it into an incense, ¹  a perfume, ²  the work of a perfumer. It is to be finely ground, ³  and pure and sacred.

He made the sacred anointing oil and the pure fragrant incense, the work of a perfumer.

They ¹  must not profane the holy offerings which the Israelites contribute ²  to the Lord, ³ 

On the first day there will be a holy assembly for you; you must not do any regular work. ¹

“The holy garments that belong to Aaron are to belong to his sons after him, so that they may be anointed ¹  in them and consecrated ²  in them.

“‘No lay person ¹  may eat anything holy. Neither a priest’s lodger ²  nor a hired laborer may eat anything holy,

Every offering ¹  of all the Israelites’ holy things that they bring to the priest will be his.

There must never be a sacred prostitute ¹  among the young women ²  of Israel nor a sacred male prostitute ³  among the young men ⁴  of Israel.

א (Alef) ¹ Alas! ²  Gold has lost its luster; ³  pure gold loses value. ⁴  Jewels ⁵  are scattered on every street corner. ⁶ 

For the Israelites ¹  must live many days without a king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred fertility pillar, without ephod or idols.

King Jehoash of Judah collected all the sacred items that his ancestors Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, and Ahaziah, kings of Judah, had consecrated, as well as his own sacred items and all the gold that could be found in the treasuries of the Lord’s temple and the royal palace. He sent it all ¹  to King Hazael of Syria, who then withdrew ²  from Jerusalem.

Yes, ¹  he remembered the sacred promise ²  he made to Abraham his servant.

Obey the king’s command, ¹  because you took ²  an oath before God ³  to be loyal to him. ⁴ 

He has done this ¹  to show mercy ²  to our ancestors, ³  and to remember his holy covenant ⁴  –

This gospel ¹  he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy scriptures,

“‘You must not make for yourselves idols, ¹  so you must not set up for yourselves a carved image or a pillar, and you must not place a sculpted stone in your land to bow down before ²  it, for I am the Lord your God.

He did evil in the sight of ¹  the Lord, but not to the same degree as his father and mother. He did remove the sacred pillar of Baal that his father had made.

He will demolish the sacred pillars in the temple of the sun ¹  in Egypt and will burn down the temples of the gods of Egypt.”’”
