Surely ¹  he rescues me from all trouble, ²  and I triumph over my enemies. ³ 

During the evening, morning, and noontime I will lament and moan, ¹  and he will hear ²  me. ³ 

Our God is a God who delivers; the Lord, the sovereign Lord, can rescue from death. ¹ 

For he will rescue the needy ¹  when they cry out for help, and the oppressed ²  who have no defender.

He sent them an assuring word ¹  and healed them; he rescued them from the pits where they were trapped. ² 

Yet he protected ¹  the needy from oppression, and cared for his families like a flock of sheep.

He raises the poor from the dirt, and lifts up the needy from the garbage pile, ¹ 

He satisfies the desire ¹  of his loyal followers; ²  he hears their cry for help and delivers them.

The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, ¹  but the faithless will be captured ²  by their own desires. ³ 

With his speech ¹  the godless person ²  destroys ³  his neighbor, but by knowledge ⁴  the righteous will be delivered.

The words of the wicked lie in wait ¹  to shed innocent blood, ²  but the words ³  of the upright will deliver them.

This is what the Lord says: “Just as a shepherd salvages from the lion’s mouth a couple of leg bones or a piece of an ear, so the Israelites who live in Samaria will be salvaged. ¹  They will be left with just a corner of a bed, ²  and a part ³  of a couch.”

He delivers me from my enemies; ¹  you snatch me away ²  from those who attack me; ³  you rescue me from violent men.

For the music director; a psalm of David. How blessed ²  is the one who treats the poor properly! ³  When trouble comes, ⁴  the Lord delivers him. ⁵ 

May the Lord protect him and save his life! ¹  May he be blessed ²  in the land! Do not turn him over ³  to his enemies! ⁴

With all my strength I will say, ¹  “O Lord, who can compare to you? You rescue ²  the oppressed from those who try to overpower them; ³  the oppressed and needy from those who try to rob them.” ⁴ 

For you ignore ¹  the God who rescues you; you pay no attention to your strong protector. ²  So this is what happens: You cultivate beautiful plants and plant exotic vines. ³
