I sent word back to him, “We are not engaged in these activities you are describing. ¹  All of this is a figment of your imagination.” ² 

Then Peter said ¹  to him, “Look, ²  we have left everything to follow you! ³  What then will there be for us?”

The wisest of her ladies ¹  answer; indeed she even thinks to herself,

The Lord ¹  was pleased that Solomon made this request. ² 

Then Esther replied to Hathach with instructions for Mordecai:

“How long until you ¹  make an end of words? ²  You must consider, ³  and then ⁴  we can talk.

“This is why ¹  my troubled thoughts bring me back ²  – because of my feelings ³  within me.

But you have said, ‘What does God know? Does he judge through such deep darkness? ¹ 

I will speak, ¹  so that I may find relief; I will open my lips, so that I may answer.

I have spoken once, but I cannot answer; twice, but I will say no more.” ¹ 

The intentions of the heart ¹  belong to a man, ²  but the answer of the tongue ³  comes from ⁴  the Lord. ⁵ 

Like a kiss on the lips ¹  is the one who gives an honest answer.

Ten days later the Lord spoke to Jeremiah.

Now when they heard this they were stunned, ¹  and they left him and went away.

Now when the Pharisees ¹  heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, ²  they assembled together. ³ 

So ¹  Herod ²  questioned him at considerable length; Jesus ³  gave him no answer.

Then they shouted back, ¹  “Not this man, ²  but Barabbas!” ³  (Now Barabbas was a revolutionary. ⁴ ) ⁵ 

Then she will reply to me, “Drink, and I’ll draw water for your camels too.” May that woman be the one whom the Lord has chosen for my master’s son.’

When Achish would ask, “Where ¹  did you raid today?” David would say, “The Negev of Judah” or “The Negev of Jeharmeel” or “The Negev of the Kenites.”

When Ben Hadad received this reply, ¹  he and the other kings were drinking in their quarters. ²  He ordered his servants, “Get ready to attack!” So they got ready to attack the city.
