For no one is declared righteous before him ¹  by the works of the law, ²  for through the law comes ³  the knowledge of sin.

Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest, since there are already priests who offer ¹  the gifts prescribed by the law.

The majority of the many people from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun were ceremonially unclean, yet they ate the Passover in violation of what is prescribed in the law. ¹  For Hezekiah prayed for them, saying: “May the Lord, who is good, forgive ² 

Offer the prescribed sacrifices ¹  and trust in the Lord! ² 

You demand that your precepts be carefully kept. ¹

ה (He) Teach me, O Lord, the lifestyle prescribed by your statutes, ¹  so that I might observe it continually. ²
