At the celebration ¹  of their king, ²  his princes become inflamed ³  with wine; they conspire ⁴  with evildoers.

The threshing floors are full of grain; the vats overflow with fresh wine and olive oil.

“But you made the Nazirites drink wine; ¹  you commanded the prophets, ‘Do not prophesy!’

he must separate ¹  himself from wine and strong drink, he must drink neither vinegar ²  made from wine nor vinegar made from strong drink, nor may he drink any juice ³  of grapes, nor eat fresh grapes or raisins. ⁴ 

The Lord who commands armies will hold a banquet for all the nations on this mountain. ¹  At this banquet there will be plenty of meat and aged wine – tender meat and choicest wine. ² 

But they answered, “We do not drink wine because our ancestor Jonadab son of Rechab commanded us not to. He told us, ‘You and your children must never drink wine.

Melchizedek king of Salem ¹  brought out bread and wine. (Now he was the priest of the Most High God.) ² 

So he ¹  said to her, “How often do you intend to get drunk? Put away your wine!”

Now let my lord send to his servants the wheat, barley, olive oil, and wine he has promised;

He fortified these cities and placed officers in them, as well as storehouses of food, olive oil, and wine.

Then all of Judah brought the tithe of the grain, the new wine, and the olive oil to the storerooms.

Wine ¹  is a mocker ²  and strong drink is a brawler; whoever goes astray by them is not wise. ³ 

The one who loves ¹  pleasure ²  will be ³  a poor person; ⁴  whoever loves wine and anointing oil ⁵  will not be rich.

Give strong drink to the one who is perishing, ¹  and wine to those who are bitterly distressed; ² 

Feasts ¹  are made ²  for laughter, and wine makes life merry, ³  but money is the answer ⁴  for everything.

Those who are champions ¹  at drinking wine are as good as dead, ²  who display great courage when mixing strong drinks.

So the warden removed the delicacies and the wine ¹  from their diet ²  and gave them a diet of vegetables instead.

As they drank wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone.

How precious and fair! ¹  Grain will make the young men flourish and new wine the young women.

Come, let’s make our father drunk with wine ¹  so we can have sexual relations ²  with him and preserve ³  our family line through our father.” ⁴
