The ¹  governor asked them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas!”

Above ¹  his head they put the charge against him, ²  which read: ³  “This is Jesus, the king of the Jews.”

The ¹  next day (which is after the day of preparation) the chief priests and the Pharisees ²  assembled before Pilate

But ¹  when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled back.

When they could not pay, he canceled ¹  the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”

Then the day for the feast ¹  of Unleavened Bread came, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. ² 

So ¹  they began to question one another as to which of them it could possibly be who would do this.

A dispute also started ¹  among them over which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. ² 

He first ¹  found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah!” ²  (which is translated Christ). ³ 

Now there is ¹  in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate ²  a pool called Bethzatha ³  in Aramaic, ⁴  which has five covered walkways. ⁵ 

(Now the day on which Jesus made the mud ¹  and caused him to see ²  was a Sabbath.) ³ 

The disciples began to look at one another, worried and perplexed ¹  to know which of them he was talking about.

Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She ¹  turned and said to him in Aramaic, ²  “Rabboni” ³  (which means Teacher). ⁴ 

Now Jesus performed ¹  many other miraculous signs in the presence of the ²  disciples, which are not recorded ³  in this book. ⁴ 

Then they prayed, ¹  “Lord, you know the hearts of all. Show us which one of these two you have chosen

to assume the task ¹  of this service ²  and apostleship from which Judas turned aside ³  to go to his own place.” ⁴ 

who will speak a message ¹  to you by which you and your entire household will be saved.’

which I was doing when they found me in the temple, ritually purified, ¹  without a crowd or a disturbance. ² 

For no one can lay any foundation other than what is being laid, which is Jesus Christ.

and to reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by which the hostility has been killed. ¹
