gaunt ¹  with want and hunger, they would gnaw ²  the parched land, in former time desolate and waste. ³ 

Should he be informed that I want ¹  to speak? If a man speaks, surely he would be swallowed up!

Do not turn me over to my enemies, ¹  for false witnesses who want to destroy me testify against me. ² 

You made us retreat ¹  from the enemy. Those who hate us take whatever they want from us. ² 

Certainly ¹  you do not want a sacrifice, or else I would offer it; ²  you do not desire a burnt sacrifice. ³ 

May my accusers be humiliated and defeated! May those who want to harm me ¹  be covered with scorn and disgrace!

When you enter my presence, do you actually think I want this – animals trampling on my courtyards? ¹ 

The watchman replies, “Morning is coming, but then night. ¹  If you want to ask, ask; come back again.” ² 

Take away from me your ¹  noisy songs; I don’t want to hear the music of your stringed instruments. ² 

and those who turn their backs on ¹  the Lord and do not want the Lord’s help or guidance.” ² 

that I must go down ¹  and see if they are as wicked as the outcry suggests. ²  If not, ³  I want to know.”

When she had done so, ¹  she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have drunk as much as they want.”

When food was served, ¹  he said, “I will not eat until I have said what I want to say.” ²  “Tell us,” Laban said. ³ 

Finally Jacob said ¹  to Laban, “Give me my wife, for my time of service is up. ²  I want to have marital relations with her.” ³ 

Their father Jacob said to them, “You are making me childless! Joseph is gone. ¹  Simeon is gone. ²  And now you want to take ³  Benjamin! Everything is against me.”

No! ¹  Go, you men ²  only, and serve the Lord, for that ³  is what you want.” ⁴  Then Moses and Aaron ⁵  were driven ⁶  out of Pharaoh’s presence.

However, if the servant ¹  says to you, “I do not want to leave ²  you,” because he loves you and your household, since he is well off with you,

Then the elders of his city must summon him and speak to him. If he persists, saying, “I don’t want to marry her,”

Pharaoh said to him, “What do you lack here that makes you want to go to your homeland?” ¹  Hadad replied, ²  “Nothing, but please give me permission to leave.” ³ 

He said, “Why do you want to go see him today? It is not the new moon ¹  or the Sabbath.” She said, “Everything’s fine.” ²
