For with mocking lips and a foreign tongue he will speak to these people. ¹ 

Your tongue carries out your destructive plans; ¹  it is as effective as a sharp razor, O deceiver. ² 

I said, ¹  “O Lord, rescue me ²  from those who lie with their lips ³  and those who deceive with their tongue. ⁴ 

Certainly ¹  my tongue does not frame a word without you, O Lord, being thoroughly aware of it. ² 

The tongue of the wise ¹  treats knowledge correctly, ²  but the mouth of the fool spouts out ³  folly.

Speech ¹  that heals ²  is like ³  a life-giving tree, ⁴  but a perverse tongue ⁵  breaks the spirit.

The intentions of the heart ¹  belong to a man, ²  but the answer of the tongue ³  comes from ⁴  the Lord. ⁵ 

Even a fool who remains silent is considered ¹  wise, and the one who holds his tongue is deemed discerning. ² 

Death and life are in the power ¹  of the tongue, ²  and those who love its use ³  will eat its fruit.

Making a fortune ¹  by a lying tongue is like ²  a vapor driven back and forth; ³  they seek death. ⁴ 

The one who reproves ¹  another ²  will in the end ³  find more favor than the one who flatters ⁴  with the tongue.

The mind that acts rashly will possess discernment ¹  and the tongue that stutters will speak with ease and clarity.

The roof of my mouth ¹  is as dry as a piece of pottery; my tongue sticks to my gums. ²  You ³  set me in the dust of death. ⁴ 

Rescue me from the guilt of murder, ¹  O God, the God who delivers me! Then my tongue will shout for joy because of your deliverance. ² 

All day long my tongue will also tell about your justice, for those who want to harm me ¹  will be embarrassed and ashamed. ² 

Your lips drip sweetness like the honeycomb, my bride, honey and milk are under your tongue. The fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.

Then the lame will leap like a deer, the mute tongue will shout for joy; for water will flow ¹  in the desert, streams in the wilderness. ² 

I solemnly make this oath ¹  – what I say is true and reliable: ²  ‘Surely every knee will bow to me, every tongue will solemnly affirm; ³ 

At whom are you laughing? At whom are you opening your mouth and sticking out your tongue? You are the children of rebels, the offspring of liars, ¹ 

For your hands are stained with blood and your fingers with sin; your lips speak lies, your tongue utters malicious words.
