It was now ¹  about noon, ²  and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, ³ 

“Why wasn’t this oil sold for three hundred silver coins ¹  and the money ²  given to the poor?”

So those who accepted ¹  his message ²  were baptized, and that day about three thousand people ³  were added. ⁴ 

After an interval of about three hours, ¹  his wife came in, but she did not know ²  what had happened.

At that very moment, ¹  three men sent to me from Caesarea ²  approached ³  the house where we were staying. ⁴ 

Do not accept an accusation against an elder unless it can be confirmed by two or three witnesses. ¹ 

But if he does not listen, take one or two others with you, so that at the testimony of two or three witnesses every matter may be established. ¹ 

So they went. When ¹  he went out again about noon and three o’clock that afternoon, ²  he did the same thing.

Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, ¹  on this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly. ¹ 

and saying, “You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! ¹  If you are God’s Son, come down ²  from the cross!”

At ¹  about three o’clock Jesus shouted with a loud voice, ²  “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” ³ 

and said, “Sir, we remember that while that deceiver was still alive he said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’

“I have compassion on the crowd, because they have already been here with me three days, and they have nothing to eat.

They will mock him, spit on him, flog ¹  him severely, and kill him. Yet ²  after three days, ³  he will rise again.”

It ¹  could have been sold for more than three hundred silver coins ²  and the money ³  given to the poor!” So ⁴  they spoke angrily to her.

Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, ¹  today – this very night – before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.”

“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with hands and in three days build another not made with hands.’”

Those who passed by defamed him, shaking their heads and saying, “Aha! You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,

Around three o’clock ¹  Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” ²
