David said to Jonathan, “Who will tell me if your father answers you harshly?”

Sing to him! Make music to him! Tell about all his miraculous deeds!

Have you considered the vast expanses of the earth? Tell me, if you know it all!

Sing praises to the Lord, who rules ¹  in Zion! Tell the nations what he has done! ² 

A whole generation ¹  will serve him; they will tell the next generation about the sovereign Lord. ² 

to give you thanks, ¹  and to tell about all your amazing deeds. ² 

Then I will tell others about your justice, ¹  and praise you all day long. ² 

Consider its defenses! ¹  Walk through ²  its fortresses, so you can tell the next generation about it! ³ 

Sing to him! Make music to him! Tell about all his miraculous deeds!

I pour out my lament before him; I tell him about ¹  my troubles.

One generation will praise your deeds to another, and tell about your mighty acts! ¹ 

They will proclaim the splendor of your kingdom; they will tell about your power,

Surely no one knows the future, ¹  and no one can tell another person what will happen. ² 

The Lord gave the prophet Jeremiah a message for them. He told him to tell them, ¹ 

“Son of man, offer a riddle, ¹  and tell a parable to the house of Israel.

When your people ¹  say to you, ‘Will you not tell us what these things mean?’

Tell Zerubbabel governor of Judah: ‘I am ready ¹  to shake the sky ²  and the earth.

I have not failed to tell about your justice; ¹  I spoke about your reliability and deliverance; I have not neglected to tell the great assembly about your loyal love and faithfulness. ² 

“Let them produce evidence! Let them tell us what will happen! Tell us about your earlier predictive oracles, ¹  so we may examine them ²  and see how they were fulfilled. ³  Or decree for us some future events!

When Jacob saw the look on Laban’s face, he could tell his attitude toward him had changed. ¹
