Make sure you do not turn away to serve and worship other gods! ¹ 

They made him jealous with other gods, ¹  they enraged him with abhorrent idols. ²

The Lord will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other. There you will worship other gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, gods of wood and stone.

So the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem, ¹  while the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten to settle in Jerusalem, the holy city, while the other nine ²  remained in other cities.
