They stood these men before the apostles, who prayed ¹  and placed ²  their hands on them.

Some ¹  devout men buried Stephen and made loud lamentation ²  over him. ³ 

Now ¹  send men to Joppa ²  and summon a man named Simon, ³  who is called Peter.

saying, “You went to ¹  uncircumcised men and shared a meal with ²  them.”

At daybreak ¹  the magistrates ²  sent their police officers, ³  saying, “Release those men.”

Therefore many of them believed, along with quite a few ¹  prominent ²  Greek women and men.

So do what ¹  we tell you: We have four men ²  who have taken ³  a vow; ⁴ 

You were bought with a price. Do not become slaves of men.

Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he captured ¹  captives; he gave gifts to men.” ² 

But ¹  Jesus ²  said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in men’s eyes, ³  but God knows your hearts. For what is highly prized ⁴  among men is utterly detestable ⁵  in God’s sight.

When they saw the boldness ¹  of Peter and John, and discovered ²  that they were uneducated ³  and ordinary ⁴  men, they were amazed and recognized these men had been with Jesus.

The ¹  herdsmen ran off, went into the town, ²  and told everything that had happened to the demon-possessed men.

When ¹  the crowd saw this, they were afraid ²  and honored God who had given such authority to men. ³ 

As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, shouting, ¹  “Have mercy ²  on us, Son of David!” ³ 

Immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.

They ¹  devour widows’ property, ²  and as a show make long prayers. These men will receive a more severe punishment.”

“Take these words to heart, ¹  for the Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.” ² 

“I ¹  tell you, whoever acknowledges ²  me before men, ³  the Son of Man will also acknowledge ⁴  before God’s angels.

As ¹  he was entering ²  a village, ten men with leprosy ³  met him. They ⁴  stood at a distance,

“Two men went up ¹  to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee ²  and the other a tax collector. ³
