The blessing ¹  from the Lord ²  makes a person rich, ³  and he adds no sorrow ⁴  to ⁵  it.

Hope ¹  deferred ²  makes the heart sick, ³  but a longing fulfilled ⁴  is like ⁵  a tree of life.

A joyful heart ¹  makes the face cheerful, ²  but by a painful heart the spirit is broken.

A person’s gift ¹  makes room for him, and leads him ²  before important people.

A poor person makes supplications, ¹  but a rich man answers harshly. ² 

A wise warrior ¹  is strong, ²  and a man of knowledge makes his strength stronger;

She makes for herself coverlets; ¹  her clothing is fine linen and purple. ² 

She makes linen garments ¹  and sells them, and supplies the merchants ²  with sashes.

I have seen another ¹  misfortune ²  on the earth: ³  It is an error a ruler makes. ⁴ 

An honorable man makes honorable plans; his honorable character gives him security. ¹ 

Seek the Lord while he makes himself available; ¹  call to him while he is nearby!

Blind fools! Which is greater, the gold or the temple that makes the gold sacred?

So then, let us pursue what makes for peace and for building up one another.

If, for example, the trumpet makes an unclear sound, who will get ready for battle?

He will become a sanctuary, ¹  but a stone that makes a person trip, and a rock that makes one stumble – to the two houses of Israel. ²  He will become ³  a trap and a snare to the residents of Jerusalem. ⁴ 

He shouts a battle cry ¹  against the sea ²  and makes it dry up; ³  he makes all the rivers ⁴  run dry. Bashan and Carmel wither; ⁵  the blossom of Lebanon withers.

So Delilah said to Samson, “Tell me what makes you so strong and how you can be subdued and humiliated.” ¹ 

Then a breath of air ¹  passes ²  by my face; it makes ³  the hair of my flesh stand up.

He deprives the leaders of the earth ¹  of their understanding; ²  he makes them wander in a trackless desert waste. ³ 

It makes the deep boil like a cauldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment, ¹
