Then he separated them from Jacob by a three-day journey, ¹  while ²  Jacob was taking care of the rest of Laban’s flocks.

“I have been with you for the past twenty years. Your ewes and female goats have not miscarried, nor have I eaten rams from your flocks.

Jacob was very afraid and upset. So he divided the people who were with him into two camps, as well as the flocks, herds, and camels.

Israel said to Joseph, “Your brothers ¹  are grazing the flocks near Shechem. Come, I will send you to them.” “I’m ready,” ²  Joseph replied. ³ 

You will live ¹  in the land of Goshen, and you will be near me – you, your children, your grandchildren, your flocks, your herds, and everything you have.

The men are shepherds; ¹  they take care of livestock. ²  They have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.’

Pharaoh said to Joseph’s ¹  brothers, “What is your occupation?” They said to Pharaoh, “Your servants take care of flocks, just as our ancestors did.” ² 

Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, “Go, serve the Lord – only your flocks and herds will be detained. Even your families ¹  may go with you.”

Would they have enough if the flocks and herds were slaughtered for them? If all the fish of the sea were caught for them, would they have enough?”

The Israelites took the women of Midian captives along with their little ones, and took all their herds, all their flocks, and all their goods as plunder.

Then they came very close to him and said, “We will build sheep folds here for our flocks and cities for our families, ¹ 

when your cattle and flocks increase, when you have plenty of silver and gold, and when you have abundance of everything,

You must give them the best of your ¹  grain, new wine, and olive oil, as well as the best of your wool when you shear your flocks.

Your children ¹  will be cursed, as well as the produce of your soil, the calves of your herds, and the lambs of your flocks.

Both night and day they were a protective wall for us the entire time we were with them, while we were tending our flocks.

David took all the flocks and herds and drove them in front of the rest of the animals. People were saying, “This is David’s plunder!”

Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat tribute, including a load of silver. The Arabs brought him 7,700 rams and 7,700 goats from their flocks.

He made storerooms for the harvest of grain, wine, and olive oil, and stalls for all his various kinds of livestock and his flocks. ¹ 

No one will live there again; no one will ever reside there again. ¹  No bedouin ²  will camp ³  there, no shepherds will rest their flocks ⁴  there.
