For the Lord your God is a consuming fire; he is a jealous God. ¹ 

From the brightness in front of him came coals of fire. ¹ 

“Yes, ¹  the lamp ²  of the wicked is extinguished; his flame of fire ³  does not shine.

Fire resides in his tent; ¹  over his residence burning sulfur is scattered.

The earth, from which food comes, is overturned below as though by fire; ¹ 

Out of its mouth go flames, ¹  sparks of fire shoot forth!

Like the fire that burns down the forest, or the flames that consume the mountainsides, ¹ 

Fire goes before him; on every side ¹  it burns up his enemies.

He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant. ¹ 

O fire and hail, snow and clouds, ¹  O stormy wind that carries out his orders, ² 

Can a man hold ¹  fire ²  against his chest ³  without ⁴  burning his clothes?

A wicked scoundrel ¹  digs up ²  evil, and his slander ³  is like a scorching fire. ⁴ 

for you will heap coals of fire on his head, ¹  and the Lord will reward you. ² 

You conceive straw, ¹  you give birth to chaff; your breath is a fire that destroys you. ² 

For the Lord judges all humanity ¹  with fire and his sword; the Lord will kill many. ² 

So I will set Judah on fire, and it will consume Jerusalem’s fortresses.” ¹ 

Open your gates, Lebanon, so that the fire may consume your cedars. ¹ 

The angel of the Lord ¹  appeared ²  to him in ³  a flame of fire from within a bush. ⁴  He looked ⁵  – and ⁶  the bush was ablaze with fire, but it was not being consumed! ⁷ 

“If a fire breaks out and spreads ¹  to thorn bushes, ²  so that stacked grain or standing grain or the whole field is consumed, the one who started ³  the fire must surely make restitution.

But if not, may fire blaze from Abimelech and consume the leaders of Shechem and Beth Millo! May fire also blaze from the leaders of Shechem and Beth Millo and consume Abimelech!”
