Now this matter arose ¹  because of the false brothers with false pretenses ²  who slipped in unnoticed to spy on ³  our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, to make us slaves. ⁴ 

¹ “You must not give ²  a false report. ³  Do not make common cause ⁴  with the wicked ⁵  to be a malicious ⁶  witness.

then this ¹  also would be iniquity to be judged, ²  for I would have been false ³  to God above.

For in truth, my words are not false; it is one complete ¹  in knowledge who is with you.

Do not turn me over to my enemies, ¹  for false witnesses who want to destroy me testify against me. ² 

Grab me and rescue me from the power of foreigners, ¹  who speak lies, and make false promises. ² 

A false witness ¹  will not go unpunished, and the one who spouts out ²  lies will not escape punishment. ³ 

“‘But just look at you! ¹  You are putting your confidence in a false belief ²  that will not deliver you. ³ 

For there will no longer be any false visions or flattering omens amidst the house of Israel.

You stumble day and night, and the false prophets stumble with you; You have destroyed your own people! ¹ 

“Watch out for false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are voracious wolves. ¹ 

And many will follow their debauched lifestyles. ¹  Because of these false teachers, ²  the way of truth will be slandered. ³ 

But false prophets arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. ¹  These false teachers ²  will ³  infiltrate your midst ⁴  with destructive heresies, ⁵  even to the point of ⁶  denying the Master who bought them. As a result, they will bring ⁷  swift destruction on themselves.

Keep your distance ¹  from a false charge ²  – do not kill the innocent and the righteous, ³  for I will not justify the wicked. ⁴ 

Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow, ¹  so is the one who testifies against ²  his neighbor as a false witness. ³ 

This is your fate, the destiny to which I have appointed you, because you have forgotten me and have trusted in false gods.

I, the Lord, affirm that ¹  I know how arrogant they are. But their pride is ill-founded. Their boastings will prove to be false. ² 

Destructive forces will come against her false prophets; ¹  they will be shown to be fools! ²  Destructive forces will come against her soldiers; they will be filled with terror! ³ 

Have you not seen a false vision and announced a lying omen when you say, “the Lord declares,” although I myself never spoke?

“‘Therefore, this is what the sovereign Lord says: Because you have spoken false words and forecast delusion, look, ¹  I am against you, ²  declares the sovereign Lord.
