Seraphs ¹  stood over him; each one had six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, ²  and they used the remaining two to fly.

The waters completely inundated ¹  the earth so that even ²  all the high mountains under the entire sky were covered.

So Aaron extended his hand over the waters of Egypt, and frogs ¹  came up and covered the land of Egypt.

But ¹  you blew with your breath, and ²  the sea covered them. They sank ³  like lead in the mighty waters.

Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

The king covered his face and cried out loudly, ¹  “My son, Absalom! Absalom, my son, my son!”

King David was very old; ¹  even when they covered him with blankets, ²  he could not get warm.

Yet I have not been silent because of the darkness, because of the thick darkness that covered my face. ¹

When the community assembled ¹  against Moses and Aaron, they turned toward the tent of meeting – and ²  the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared.

That night God did as he asked. ¹  Only the fleece was dry and the ground around it was covered with dew.

So they yelled louder and, in accordance with their prescribed ritual, ¹  mutilated themselves with swords and spears until their bodies were covered with blood. ²
