He said, ¹  “In a certain city ²  there was a judge ³  who neither feared God nor respected people. ⁴ 

(This ¹  was a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection ²  started in the city, and for murder.) ³ 

On the next Sabbath almost the whole city assembled together to hear the word of the Lord. ¹ 

But the population ¹  of the city was divided; some ²  sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.

and came ¹  and apologized to them. After ²  they brought them out, they asked them repeatedly ³  to leave the city.

In Damascus, the governor ¹  under King Aretas was guarding the city of Damascus ²  in order to arrest ³  me,

Now in that city was a man named Simon, who had been practicing magic ¹  and amazing the people of Samaria, claiming to be someone great.

but Saul learned of their plot against him. ¹  They were also watching ²  the city gates ³  day and night so that they could kill him.

About noon ¹  the next day, while they were on their way and approaching ²  the city, Peter went up on the roof ³  to pray.
