My child, ²  be attentive to my wisdom, pay close attention ³  to my understanding,

My child, ²  keep my words and treasure up my commands in your own keeping. ³ 

A wise child ¹  brings joy to his father, but a foolish person ²  despises ³  his mother.

If you stop listening to ¹  instruction, my child, you will stray ²  from the words of knowledge.

My child, ¹  if your heart is wise, then my heart also will be glad;

Listen, my child, ¹  and be wise, and guide your heart on the right way.

Fear the Lord, my child, ¹  as well as the king, and do not associate ²  with rebels, ³ 

Discipline your child, and he will give you rest; ¹  he will bring you ²  happiness. ³ 

Whoever then humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

And whoever welcomes ¹  a child like this in my name welcomes me.

She went home and found the child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

While ¹  they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. ² 

When ¹  they saw him, ²  they related what they had been told ³  about this child,

So ¹  the child’s ²  father ³  and mother were amazed ⁴  at what was said about him.

But Jesus ¹  gently took her by the hand and said, ²  “Child, get up.”

“Sir,” the official said to him, “come down before my child dies.”

So you, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child ¹  and nurse him for me, and I will pay your ²  wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him.

When David saw that his servants were whispering to one another, he ¹  realized that the child was dead. So David asked his servants, “Is the child dead?” They replied, “Yes, he’s dead.”

His servants said to him, “What is this that you have done? While ¹  the child was still alive, you fasted and wept. Once the child was dead you got up and ate food!”
