“Why are times not appointed by ¹  the Almighty? ²  Why do those who know him not see his days?

“As surely as God lives, ¹  who has denied me justice, ²  the Almighty, who has made my life bitter ³  –

This is the portion of the wicked man allotted by God, ¹  the inheritance that evildoers receive from the Almighty.

What then would be one’s lot from God above, one’s heritage from the Almighty ¹  on high?

Surely it is an empty cry ¹  – God does not hear it; the Almighty does not take notice of it.

“Will the one who contends ¹  with the Almighty correct him? ²  Let the person who accuses God give him an answer!”

I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as ¹  God Almighty, ²  but by ³  my name ‘the Lord’ ⁴  I was not known to them. ⁵ 

the oracle of the one who hears the words of God, who sees a vision from the Almighty, although falling flat on the ground ¹  with eyes open: ² 

For the arrows ¹  of the Almighty ²  are within me; my spirit ³  drinks their poison; ⁴  God’s sudden terrors ⁵  are arrayed ⁶  against me.

Is it of any special benefit ¹  to the Almighty that you should be righteous, or is it any gain to him that you make your ways blameless? ² 

I will teach you ¹  about the power ²  of God; What is on the Almighty’s mind ³  I will not conceal.

“If only I had ¹  someone to hear me! Here is my signature – ²  let the Almighty answer me! If only I had an indictment ³  that my accuser had written. ⁴ 

“Therefore, listen to me, you men of understanding. ¹  Far be it from ²  God to do wickedness, from the Almighty to do evil.

As for the Almighty, ¹  we cannot attain to him! He is great in power, but justice ²  and abundant righteousness he does not oppress.

When they moved, I heard the sound of their wings – it was like the sound of rushing waters, or the voice of the Almighty, ¹  or the tumult ²  of an army. When they stood still, they lowered their wings.
