For whenever someone says, “I am with Paul,” or “I am with Apollos,” are you not merely human? ¹ 

Now ¹  I want you to know, brothers and sisters, ²  that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. ³ 

these are only ¹  the shadow of the things to come, but the reality ²  is Christ! ³ 

“I, I am the one who consoles you. ¹  Why are you afraid of mortal men, of mere human beings who are as short-lived as grass? ² 

But who indeed are you – a mere human being ¹  – to talk back to God? ²  Does what is molded say to the molder, “Why have you made me like this?” ³ 

Surely people go through life as mere ghosts. ¹  Surely they accumulate worthless wealth without knowing who will eventually haul it away.” ² 

So, brothers and sisters, ¹  I could not speak to you as spiritual people, but instead as people of the flesh, ²  as infants in Christ.

Yes, you would gamble ¹  for the fatherless, and auction off ²  your friend.

Rise up, Lord! ¹  Don’t let men be defiant! ²  May the nations be judged in your presence!

How desolate they become in a mere moment! Terrifying judgments make their demise complete! ¹ 

The Lord knows that peoples’ thoughts are morally bankrupt. ¹ 

When they were few in number, just a very few, and resident aliens within it,

The nations’ idols are made of silver and gold, they are man-made. ¹ 

People ¹  are like a vapor, their days like a shadow that disappears. ² 

for all the large ships, ¹  for all the impressive ²  ships. ³ 

Why should any living person ¹  complain when punished for his sins? ² 

You make us like filthy scum ¹  in the estimation ²  of the nations.

The young men perform menial labor; ¹  boys stagger from their labor. ² 

He replied, “What is impossible ¹  for mere humans ²  is possible for God.”

Do not judge according to external appearance, ¹  but judge with proper ²  judgment.”
