But ¹  the twelve ²  understood none of these things. This ³  saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp ⁴  what Jesus meant. ⁵ 

We went on board ¹  a ship from Adramyttium ²  that was about to sail to various ports ³  along the coast of the province of Asia ⁴  and put out to sea, ⁵  accompanied by Aristarchus, a Macedonian ⁶  from Thessalonica. ⁷ 

I am your servant. Give me insight, so that I can understand ¹  your rules.

Your instructions are a doorway through which light shines. ¹  They give ²  insight to the untrained. ³ 

for they are life to those who find them and healing to one’s entire body. ¹

Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his descendant. ¹  Scripture ²  does not say, “and to the descendants,” ³  referring to many, but “and to your descendant,” ⁴  referring to one, who is Christ.

The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and the seven golden lampstands is this: ¹  The seven stars are the angels ²  of the seven churches and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

Joseph replied, “This is its meaning: The three baskets represent ¹  three days.

This is just what I told ¹  Pharaoh: God has shown Pharaoh what he is about to do.

Why is light given ¹  to a man ²  whose way is hidden, ³  and whom God has hedged in? ⁴ 

I loathe ¹  it; ²  I do not want to live forever; leave me alone, ³  for my days are a vapor! ⁴ 

Help me to understand what your precepts mean! ¹  Then I can meditate ²  on your marvelous teachings. ³ 

Your instructions are totally reliable; all your just regulations endure. ¹
