The Lord said to me: “Son of man, pay attention, ¹  watch closely and listen carefully to ²  everything I tell you concerning all the statutes of the Lord’s house and all its laws. Pay attention to the entrances ³  to the temple with all the exits of the sanctuary.

He also caused ¹  everyone (small and great, rich and poor, free and slave ² ) to obtain a mark on their right hand or on their forehead.

“‘For your eastern border you will draw a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham.

Old men, young men, young women, little children, and women – wipe them out! But do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary!” So they began with the elders who were at the front of the temple.

Now ¹  the beast was seized, and along with him the false prophet who had performed the signs on his behalf ²  – signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with sulfur. ³ 

Whether it is for punishment ¹  for his land, or whether it is for mercy, he causes it to find its mark. ² 

Then ¹  I saw thrones and seated on them were those who had been given authority to judge. ²  I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. “‘And this will be your northern border: From the Great Sea you will draw a line to Mount Hor;

from Mount Hor you will draw a line to Lebo Hamath, ¹  and the direction of the border will be to Zedad.

Consider its defenses! ¹  Walk through ²  its fortresses, so you can tell the next generation about it! ³ 

God said, “Let there be lights ¹  in the expanse ²  of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them be signs ³  to indicate seasons and days and years,
