As for the form of their faces, they were the faces whose appearance I had seen at the Kebar River. Each one moved straight ahead.

like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds after the rain. ¹  This was the appearance of the surrounding brilliant light; it looked like the glory of the Lord. When I saw ²  it, I threw myself face down, and I heard a voice speaking.

For God achieved what the law could not do because ¹  it was weakened through the flesh. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

As I watched, I saw ¹  on the platform ²  above the top of the cherubim something like a sapphire, resembling the shape of a throne, appearing above them.

Each had four faces; each had four wings and the form of human hands under the wings.

So when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they shouted ¹  in the Lycaonian language, ²  “The gods have come down to us in human form!” ³ 

As I watched, I noticed ¹  a form that appeared to be a man. ²  From his waist downward was something like fire, ³  and from his waist upward something like a brightness, ⁴  like an amber glow. ⁵ 

“Show me a denarius. ¹  Whose image ²  and inscription are on it?” ³  They said, “Caesar’s.”

In the middle ¹  of the living beings was something like ²  burning coals of fire ³  or like torches. It moved back and forth among the living beings. It was bright, and lightning was flashing out of the fire.

The appearance of the wheels and their construction ¹  was like gleaming jasper, ²  and all four wheels looked alike. Their structure was like a wheel within a wheel. ³ 

So ¹  they brought one, and he said to them, “Whose image ²  is this, and whose inscription?” They replied, ³  “Caesar’s.”

And just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, let us also bear ¹  the image of the man of heaven.

Their faces had this appearance: Each of the four had the face of a man, with the face of a lion on the right, the face of an ox on the left and also the face of an eagle. ¹ 

Then the one who appeared to be a human being touched me again ¹  and strengthened me.

¹ He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn ²  over all creation, ³ 

Yet death reigned from Adam until Moses even over those who did not sin in the same way that Adam (who is a type ¹  of the coming one) transgressed. ² 

because those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that his Son ¹  would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. ² 

among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of those who do not believe ¹  so they would not see the light of the glorious gospel ²  of Christ, ³  who is the image of God.

He ¹  is like a lion ²  that wants to tear its prey to bits, ³  like a young lion crouching ⁴  in hidden places.

Their venom is like that of a snake, ¹  like a deaf serpent ²  that does not hear, ³
