For sadness as intended by God produces a repentance that leads to salvation, leaving no regret, but worldly sadness brings about death.

This is what the Lord, your protector, ¹  says, the Holy One of Israel: ²  “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you how to succeed, who leads you in the way you should go.

“Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.

There is a way that seems right to a person, ¹  but its end is the way that leads to death. ²

to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, perseverance; ¹  to perseverance, godliness;

The one who leads the upright astray in an evil way will himself fall into his own pit, ¹  but the blameless will inherit what is good. ² 

When they heard this, ¹  they ceased their objections ²  and praised ³  God, saying, “So then, God has granted the repentance ⁴  that leads to life even to the Gentiles.” ⁵ 

The person ¹  who hears the reproof that leads to life ²  is at home ³  among the wise. ⁴ 

Jesus answered them, ¹  “Watch out ²  that no one misleads you.

Jesus began to say to them, “Watch out ¹  that no one misleads you.

His battle cry overwhelms like a flooding river ¹  that reaches one’s neck. He shakes the nations in a sieve that isolates the chaff; ²  he puts a bit into the mouth of the nations and leads them to destruction. ³ 

Or do you have contempt for the wealth of his kindness, forbearance, and patience, and yet do not know ¹  that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?

‘Cursed is the one who misleads a blind person on the road.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

The one who heeds instruction ¹  is on the way to ²  life, but the one who rejects ³  rebuke goes astray.

True ¹  righteousness leads to ²  life, but the one who pursues evil pursues it ³  to his own death. ⁴ 

What the righteous desire ¹  leads ²  only to good, but what the wicked hope for ³  leads ⁴  to wrath.

In the path of righteousness there is life, but another path leads to death. ¹ 

A wise person’s good sense protects him, ¹  but a fool’s lack of sense leaves him vulnerable. ² 

Consequently, ¹  just as condemnation ²  for all people ³  came ⁴  through one transgression, ⁵  so too through the one righteous act ⁶  came righteousness leading to life ⁷  for all people.
