The leaders and the highly respected people ¹  are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail.

But ¹  indeed, ²  some are last ³  who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but ¹  the one who humbles ²  himself will be exalted.”

My Father is honored ¹  by this, that ²  you bear ³  much fruit and show that you are ⁴  my disciples.

But when he again brings ¹  his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all the angels of God worship him!” ² 

But at the end of the appointed time ¹  I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up ²  toward heaven, and my sanity returned to me. I extolled the Most High, and I praised and glorified the one who lives forever. For his authority is an everlasting authority, and his kingdom extends from one generation to the next.

So now the Lord says, the one who formed me from birth ¹  to be his servant – he did this ²  to restore Jacob to himself, so that Israel might be gathered to him; and I will be honored ³  in the Lord’s sight, for my God is my source of strength ⁴  –

But when you are invited, go and take the least important place, so that when your host ¹  approaches he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up here to a better place.’ ²  Then you will be honored in the presence of all who share the meal with you.

The young man did not delay in doing what they asked ¹  because he wanted Jacob’s daughter Dinah ²  badly. (Now he was more important ³  than anyone in his father’s household.) ⁴ 

Moses then said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord spoke: ‘Among the ones close to me I will show myself holy, ¹  and in the presence of all the people I will be honored.’” ²  So Aaron kept silent.

Haman then recounted to them his fabulous wealth, ¹  his many sons, ²  and how the king had magnified him and exalted him over the king’s other officials and servants.

Out of those places you will hear songs of thanksgiving ¹  and the sounds of laughter and merriment. I will increase their number and they will not dwindle away. ²  I will bring them honor and they will no longer be despised.

So tell ¹  my father about all my honor in Egypt and about everything you have seen. But bring my father down here quickly!” ² 

From ¹  the three he was given honor and he became their officer, even though he was not one of the three.

He says, ¹  “Stop your striving and recognize ²  that I am God! I will be exalted ³  over ⁴  the nations! I will be exalted over ⁵  the earth!”

He generously gives ¹  to the needy; his integrity endures. ²  He will be vindicated and honored. ³ 

So he said to them, “When you pray, ¹  say: Father, ²  may your name be honored; ³  may your kingdom come. ⁴ 

And because the midwives feared God, he made ¹  households ²  for them.

the young men would see me and step aside, ¹  and the old men would get up and remain standing;

that he might seat him with princes, with the princes of his people.
