This man Elkanah went up with all his family to make the yearly sacrifice to the Lord and to keep his vow,

Then Samuel went to Ramah, while Saul went up to his home in Gibeah of Saul.

The king of Israel went home to Samaria ¹  bitter and angry.

Then all the people returned to their homes, and David went to pronounce a blessing on his family. ¹ 

After twenty years, during which Solomon built the Lord’s temple and his royal palace,

Manasseh passed away ¹  and was buried in his palace. His son Amon replaced him as king.

But Haman restrained himself and went on to his home. He then sent for his friends to join him, ¹  along with his wife Zeresh.

Then Mordecai again sat at the king’s gate, while Haman hurried away to his home, mournful and with a veil over his head.

He leans against his house but it does not hold up, ¹  he takes hold ²  of it but it does not stand.

Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich ¹  and his wealth multiplies! ²

But the Lord struck Pharaoh and his household with severe diseases ¹  because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

When Abram heard that his nephew ¹  had been taken captive, he mobilized ²  his 318 trained men who had been born in his household, and he pursued the invaders ³  as far as Dan. ⁴ 

But he urged ¹  them persistently, so they turned aside with him and entered his house. He prepared a feast for them, including bread baked without yeast, and they ate.

Abraham said to his servant, the senior one ¹  in his household who was in charge of everything he had, “Put your hand under my thigh ² 

So Jacob told his household and all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign gods you have among you. ¹  Purify yourselves and change your clothes. ² 

So Joseph found favor in his sight and became his personal attendant. ¹  Potiphar appointed Joseph ²  overseer of his household and put him in charge ³  of everything he owned.

So now, it is not you who sent me here, but God. He has made me an adviser ¹  to Pharaoh, lord over all his household, and ruler over all the land of Egypt.

So Joseph went up to bury his father; all Pharaoh’s officials went with him – the senior courtiers ¹  of his household, all the senior officials of the land of Egypt,
