The soldiers ¹  told him what had been promised, saying, ²  “This is what will be done for the man who can strike him down.”

He then handed out to each Israelite man and woman a loaf of bread, a date cake, and a raisin cake.

and you, O Lord, demonstrate loyal love. ¹  For you repay men for what they do. ² 

Do not say, “I will do to him just as he has done to me; I will pay him back ¹  according to what he has done.” ² 

The one who robs ¹  his father and mother and says, “There is no transgression,” is a companion ²  to the one ³  who destroys.

Lord, we know that people do not control their own destiny. ¹  It is not in their power to determine what will happen to them. ² 

I, the Lord, probe into people’s minds. I examine people’s hearts. ¹  I deal with each person according to how he has behaved. I give them what they deserve based on what they have done.

Their wings were spread out above them; each had two wings touching the wings of one of the other beings on either side and two wings covering their bodies.

If he does not redeem the field, but sells ¹  the field to someone else, he may never redeem it.

But if the individual has no close relative ¹  to whom reparation can be made for the wrong, the reparation for the wrong must be paid to the Lord ²  for the priest, in addition to the ram of atonement by which atonement is made for him.

“And if she marries a husband while under a vow, ¹  or she uttered ²  anything impulsively by which she has pledged herself,

Suppose a man has two wives, one whom he loves more than the other, ¹  and they both ²  bear him sons, with the firstborn being the child of the less loved wife.

If a person has a stubborn, rebellious son who pays no attention to his father or mother, and they discipline him to no avail, ¹
