So the warden ¹  agreed to their proposal ²  and tested them for ten ³  days.

“This pile of stones and the pillar are reminders that I will not pass beyond this pile to come to harm you and that you will not pass beyond this pile and this pillar to come to harm me. ¹ 

So these officials said to the king, “This man must be put to death. For he is demoralizing ¹  the soldiers who are left in the city as well as all the other people there by these things he is saying. ²  This ³  man is not seeking to help these people but is trying to harm them.” ⁴ 

Then Abimelech asked ¹  Abraham, “What prompted you to do this thing?” ² 

So they called Rebekah and asked her, “Do you want ¹  to go with this man?” She replied, “I want to go.”

So Abimelech commanded all the people, “Whoever touches ¹  this man or his wife will surely be put to death.” ² 

So he named it Shibah; ¹  that is why the name of the city has been Beer Sheba ²  to this day.

Then Jacob woke up ¹  and thought, ²  “Surely the Lord is in this place, but I did not realize it!”

“Here is this pile of stones and this pillar I have set up between me and you,” Laban said to Jacob. ¹ 

They answered him, “Why does my lord say such things? ¹  Far be it from your servants to do such a thing! ² 

You will also take in your hand this staff, with which you will do the signs.” ¹ 

I will put a division ¹  between my people and your people. This sign will take place ²  tomorrow.”’”

The Lord set ¹  an appointed time, saying, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this ²  in the land.”

“This month is to be your beginning of months; it will be your first month of the year. ¹ 

They will eat the meat the same night; ¹  they will eat it roasted over the fire with bread made without yeast ²  and with bitter herbs.

You must observe this event as an ordinance for you and for your children forever.

Then Moses cried out to the Lord, “What will I do with ¹  this people? – a little more ²  and they will stone me!” ³ 

¹ In the third month after the Israelites went out ²  from the land of Egypt, on the very day, ³  they came to the Desert of Sinai.

If the ox ¹  gores a son or a daughter, the owner ²  will be dealt with according to this rule. ³ 

So I said to them, ‘Whoever has gold, break it off.’ So they gave it ¹  to me, and I threw it into the fire, and this calf came out.” ²
