His servants ¹  dug another well, but they quarreled over it too, so Isaac named it ²  Sitnah. ³ 

But if he does not do it with premeditation, ¹  but it happens by accident, ²  then I will appoint for you a place where he may flee.

Then he put the large basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it ¹  for washing.

You must place them ¹  in the tent of meeting before the ark of the covenant ²  where I meet with you.

But if the slayer at any time goes outside the boundary of the town to which he had fled,

You will become an occasion of horror, a proverb, and an object of ridicule to all the peoples to whom the Lord will drive you.

There he shattered the arrows, ¹  the shield, the sword, and the rest of the weapons of war. ²  (Selah)

With bow and arrow ¹  men will hunt ²  there, for the whole land will be covered ³  with thorns and briers.

I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah people to take possession of my mountains. My chosen ones will take possession of the land; ¹  my servants will live there.

You will never come back to this land to which you will long to return!” ¹ 

Babylon will become a heap of ruins. Jackals will make their home there. ¹  It will become an object of horror and of hissing scorn, a place where no one lives. ²

I was concerned for my holy reputation ¹  which the house of Israel profaned among the nations where they went.
