For he ¹  knows deceitful ²  men; when he sees evil, will he not ³  consider it? ⁴ 

Which of all these ¹  does not know that the hand of the Lord ²  has done ³  this,

he wanders about – food for vultures; ¹  he knows that the day of darkness is at hand. ² 

‘Surely such is the residence ¹  of an evil man; and this is the place of one who has not known God.’” ² 

And further, ¹  when you say that his anger does not punish, ²  and that he does not know transgression! ³ 

Let destruction take them by surprise! ¹  Let the net they hid catch them! Let them fall into destruction! ² 

would not God discover it, for he knows ¹  one’s thoughts? ² 

We do not see any signs of God’s presence; ¹  there are no longer any prophets ²  and we have no one to tell us how long this will last. ³ 

The spiritually insensitive do not recognize this; the fool does not understand this. ¹ 

When a country is rebellious ¹  it has many princes, ²  but by someone who is discerning and knowledgeable ³  order is maintained. ⁴ 

The stingy person ¹  hastens after riches and does not know that poverty will overtake him. ² 

A poor but wise youth is better than an old and foolish king who no longer knows how to receive advice.

though it never saw the light of day ¹  nor knew anything, ²  yet it has more rest ³  than that man –

For you know in your own heart ¹  that you also have cursed others many times.

Surely no one knows the future, ¹  and no one can tell another person what will happen. ² 

The toil of a stupid fool ¹  wears him out, ²  because he does not even know the way to the city. ³ 

For this reason my people will know my name, for this reason they will know ¹  at that time ²  that I am the one who says, ‘Here I am.’”

Then Zedekiah told Jeremiah, “Do not let anyone know about the conversation we have had. ¹  If you do, you will die. ²
