Elisha ¹  just stared at him until Hazael became uncomfortable. ²  Then the prophet started crying.

An adversary ¹  opposed ²  Israel, inciting David to count how many warriors Israel had. ³ 

He stood before the altar of the Lord in front of the entire assembly of Israel and spread out his hands.

Rehoboam appointed Abijah son of Maacah as the leader over his brothers, for he intended to name him his successor. ¹ 

Then a spirit ¹  stepped forward and stood before the Lord. He said, ‘I will deceive him.’ The Lord asked him, ‘How?’

He appointed judges throughout the land and in each of the fortified cities of Judah. ¹ 

Jehoshaphat stood before the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem ¹  at the Lord’s temple, in front of the new courtyard.

He posted guards at the gates of the Lord’s temple, so no one who was ceremonially unclean in any way could enter.

Then the glory of the Lord moved away from the threshold of the temple and stopped above the cherubim.

The glory of the Lord rose up from within the city and stopped ¹  over the mountain east of it.

The one advancing against him will do as he pleases, and no one will be able to stand before him. He will prevail in the beautiful land, and its annihilation will be within his power. ¹ 

So they picked Jonah up and threw him into the sea, and the sea stopped raging.

Ezra the scribe stood on a towering wooden platform ¹  constructed for this purpose. Standing near him on his right were Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Masseiah. On his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malkijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

The angel of God, who was going before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them, and the pillar ¹  of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them.

On the next day ¹  Moses sat to judge ²  the people, and the people stood around Moses from morning until evening.

So Moses stood at the entrance of the camp and said, “Whoever is for the Lord, come ¹  to me.” ²  All the Levites gathered around him,

So Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord. He then gathered seventy men of the elders of the people and had them stand around the tabernacle.

Then the angel of the Lord went farther, and stood in a narrow place, where there was no way to turn either to the right or to the left.

When Gaal son of Ebed came out and stood at the entrance to the city’s gate, Abimelech and his men got up from their hiding places.

Then the king said to them, “I will do whatever seems best to you.” So the king stayed beside the city gate, while all the army marched out by hundreds and by thousands.
