Then he ¹  said to his relatives, “Gather stones.” So they brought stones and put them in a pile. ²  They ate there by the pile of stones.

(The gold of that land is pure; ¹  pearls ²  and lapis lazuli ³  are also there).

and with cutting and setting stone, and with cutting wood, to work in all kinds of craftsmanship.

Is my strength like that of stones? ¹  or is my flesh made of bronze?

It wraps its roots around a heap ¹  of stones ²  and it looks ³  for a place among stones. ⁴ 

Its heart ¹  is hard as rock, hard as a lower millstone.

They will lift you up in their hands, so you will not slip and fall on a stone. ¹ 

The Lord abhors ¹  dishonest scales, ²  but an accurate weight ³  is his elight.

Honest scales and balances ¹  are from the Lord; all the weights ²  in the bag are his handiwork.

Like tying a stone in a sling, ¹  so is giving honor to a fool.

The one who digs a pit ¹  will fall into it; the one who rolls a stone – it will come back on him.

A stone is heavy and sand is weighty, but vexation ¹  by a fool is more burdensome ²  than the two of them.

One who quarries stones may be injured by them; one who splits logs may be endangered by them.
