“If I go to the east, he is not there, and to the west, yet I do not perceive him.

If you yourselves have all seen this, Why in the world ¹  do you continue this meaningless talk? ² 

Look, I am just like you in relation to God; I too have been molded ¹  from clay.

¹ Yet God ²  finds occasions ³  with me; he regards me as his enemy!

Indeed, God is mighty; and he does not despise people, ¹  he ²  is mighty, and firm ³  in his intent. ⁴ 

Indeed, God is exalted in his power; who is a teacher ¹  like him?

See how he scattered ¹  his lightning ²  about him; he has covered the depths ³  of the sea.

“Indeed, I am completely unworthy ¹  – how could I reply to you? I put ²  my hand over my mouth to silence myself. ³ 

(41:1) ¹  See, his expectation is wrong, ²  he is laid low even at the sight of it. ³ 

Look, I was guilty of sin from birth, a sinner the moment my mother conceived me. ¹ 

Look, ¹  you desire ²  integrity in the inner man; ³  you want me to possess wisdom. ⁴ 

Certainly ¹  my tongue does not frame a word without you, O Lord, being thoroughly aware of it. ² 

If I were to ascend ¹  to heaven, you would be there. If I were to sprawl out in Sheol, there you would be. ² 

If the righteous are recompensed on earth, ¹  how much more ²  the wicked sinner! ³ 

The Beloved to Her Lover: Oh, how handsome you are, my lover! ¹  Oh, ²  how delightful ³  you are! The lush foliage ⁴  is our canopied bed; ⁵ 

Look, a king will promote fairness; ¹  officials will promote justice. ² 

Look, ambassadors ¹  cry out in the streets; messengers sent to make peace ²  weep bitterly.

Look, you are nothing, and your accomplishments are nonexistent; the one who chooses to worship you is disgusting. ¹ 

I first decreed to Zion, ‘Look, here’s what will happen!’ ¹  I sent a herald to Jerusalem. ² 

Look, all of them are nothing, ¹  their accomplishments are nonexistent; their metal images lack any real substance. ²
